Oriole

Habitat  – 

Open areas with scattered trees such as orchards, gardens, parks, and backyards. In Florida, they are often seen in spring and summer.

Diet  – 

  • Insects (especially during nesting season)
  • Fruits and berries
  • Nectar

Fun fact  – 
They help control insect populations in your garden!

Lifespan  – 

About 7–10 years in the wild.

Special Behavior  – 
Males are a rich chestnut (reddish-brown) with black—very striking.

Females are yellow-green and more subtle. They weave hanging nests that look like little pouches.

Their song is a series of sweet whistles.
